How Long Will My Child Need to Wear Braces for Clubfoot?

Braces are an essential part of clubfoot correction, helping to keep your child’s feet properly aligned after casting. The process does take time, but it’s key to ensuring lasting results.

Here’s what to expect:

👣 Full-Time Wear (First 3 Months):
After your child’s feet have been stretched, realigned, and the casting phase is complete, they’ll wear braces 24 hours a day for about three months. This stage prevents the feet from returning to their original, clubbed position.

🌙 Nighttime Wear (Up to Age 3–5):
After the initial phase, your child will only need to wear the braces during naps and at night. This stage usually continues until your child is 3 to 5 years old.

Although this may seem like a long time, it’s crucial for your child’s feet to heal, strengthen, and grow correctly. Stopping brace use too soon can cause the condition to return and may require additional treatment.
