Before Surgery
After Surgery
This is an example of a much more severe bunion deformity. Thanks to modern fixation devices in recovery from this kind of surgery has greatly shortened. A few years ago, this procedure required 6-8 weeks of nonweightbearing. Now, the patient can have the surgery and put weight on the foot immediately. Of course the patient has to be careful postoperatively and full activity isn’t allowed immediately that these new fixation devices have greatly decreased the postoperative recovery time as well as the postoperative complication risk.
